Text Without Type

In celebration of the Broadmoor Art Academy’s 100th anniversary learn to use non-traditional letterpress and relief printmaking techniques to explore the visual, material, conceptual, and poetic possibilities of text. We’ll be working at The Press at Colorado College, with Aaron Cohick, but the class will focus on “low-tech” processes for all skill levels that can be adapted for use outside of a letterpress studio: linoleum/paper relief, collagraph, stencil printing, pressure printing, pochoir, monoprints, and collage. Each student will produce a small print of their own combining various techniques, and/or a set of print samples.
