Family Adventure Day
September 14 @ 10:00 am
Join us for Family Adventure Day! Pop in anytime between 10 a.m.–1 p.m. to check out what the Fine Arts Center offers kids of all ages. With guidance from our Bemis School of Art instructors, embrace your creative side with opportunities to draw, paint, and sculpt. We’ve partnered with Pikes Peak Library District, Pikes Peak Children’s Museum, and Project Angel Heart to help us bring you a variety of hands-on art projects, artist demonstrations, and interactive, self-guided activities. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Family Adventure Day coincides with Museum Free Day, so stick around and tour the galleries FREE of charge. This event is free, and all ages and skill levels can participate!
Activities to look forward to:
- Enjoy an exciting clay wheel-throwing demonstration from students and professional potters.
- See how the museum creates protective storage enclosures for delicate papier-mâché works in preparation for the museum’s annual Día de Muertos celebration.
- Decorate paper dolls and have fun with a fashion runway for a photoshoot in celebration of Paris Fashion Week.
- Use your powers of creativity to create a one-of-a-kind monoprint using your breath, wax, and ink.
- Hands-on weaving.
- A collaborative art project.
- A movement class and then a dance party with CC Mobile Arts.
- Join the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District in making paper roses from the pages of broken books.
Members: Come early between 9–10 a.m. and enjoy complimentary coffee and donuts (while supplies last) and a special art scavenger hunt that you can participate in throughout the event. Complete the hunt and receive a special take-home art activity for kids or a wine tumbler for adults! Not a member yet? Join today!
