Bioart Workshop
December 13 @ 2:00 pm
Event location: Arts & Crafts Space, basement of Worner Campus Center.
Participants are invited to make their own petri dish artworks using a similar process as artist Jude Abu Zaineh, combining foods, collage, and bioart. Workshop participants will be sent documentation of their petri dishes in a week or two, once invisible cultures are visible after incubation. No previous experience necessary. Free and open to the public; children must be accompanied by an adult.
Jude Abu Zaineh is a Palestinian-Canadian interdisciplinary artist-curator working across art, food, science, and technology studies. Her work develops alternate archive practices and investigates themes of culture, displacement, storytelling, diaspora, and belonging, through de-colonial and feminist perspectives. She examines ideals of home and community influenced by her childhood and upbringing in Southwest Asia.
Sponsored by the Colorado College Cultural Attractions Fund, the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, and the History Department.
