The nationally-recognized collection of Jim and Virginia Moffett is comprised of a visionary selection of 19th and 20th century Colorado artists and subjects. Though the Moffetts are based in Kansas City, they spend summers in Colorado and since 1990 have amassed one of the most important collections of Colorado art. Many of the artists represented in the Moffett collection were based in Colorado Springs during the decades prior to World War II, when this city at the base of Pikes Peak was among the premier arts centers in the nation. Approximately 50 paintings, drawings, and prints by artists including Charles Bunnell, Thomas Hart Benton, Frank Mechau, Ethel and Jenne Magafan, Boardman Robinson, Birger Sandzén, Elisabeth Spalding, Lawrence Barrett, Ila Mae McAfee, and Edgar Britton.
