Purchased in 1990, the museum’s collection of Contemporary Native Prints highlights a wide variety of perspectives and styles from some of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Spectrums draws largely upon works from this collection to explore the styles, perspectives, and legacies of artists who not only challenged expectations of “Native Art,” but also engaged with and explored their own identities, cultures, and lived experiences through their work, continuing to push the boundaries of art for themselves and those who would come after.
