You Oughta Know: Alanis Morissette and the Women Who Rocked the Industry
May 8 @ 5:30 pm
Join our resident cabaret artist, J. Chang-Tablada, as we explore the influence of Alanis Morissette and the powerful wave of women in rock that emerged around her. Through song and storytelling, this lecture traces musical lineages across generations, looking back to artists such as Stevie Nicks, who helped shape the landscape Alanis entered and forward to contemporary musicians like Olivia Rodrigo, who continue to draw inspiration from her fearless voice and emotional honesty. More than a single artist or era, this lecture celebrates how women in rock have pushed boundaries, shifted culture, and continue to redefine what it means to be heard.
This lecture coincides with the theatre show Jagged Little Pill: The Musical, on stage from April 30–May 24, 2026.
Themed Cocktail: Rock ‘n’ Rye
Lecturer: J. Chang-Tablada, Resident Cabaret Artist and FAC Theatre Company Music Director
