The FAC houses a magnificent collection of Guatemalan costumes expressing centuries of Mayan history and tradition. Guest curator Beth Olson will create an exhibition that focuses on a particular aspect of this vibrant collection. This show will highlight the many ways in which hand-woven rectangles wrap the bodies, braids, and bundles of Mayan culture in a tradition stretching back thousands of years. “Complex and sophisticated, this ancient tradition informs our esthetics with a modern sensibility” says Olson.
