February Members of the Month

Meet Our February Members of the Month: David, Angela and Everett Seals

Why did you become members of the Fine Arts Center?
We feel at home in art museums and enjoy visiting, writing and discussing work together. When we moved to Downtown Colorado Springs and realized we could enjoy such a high quality museum within a mile of home, we felt so lucky! When Everett was born, we realized that as Members we have the ability to build this vibrant place into the routine of our lives — we can stop by for 20 minutes or spend an hour, engaging with whatever we’re drawn to that day, and cultivate Everett’s visual literacy, communication skills, and connection with his community during visits to the Museum.

When did your interest in the arts begin?
We both grew up with a love of the arts, studying and practicing visual art, music and theater up through college. As adults, we have both worked in arts administration for over a decade. Everett is growing up at the FAC — these days, at 18 months old, you may find him practicing his skills on the stairs or orbiting the red Chilhuly chandelier pointing and saying, “Oooooo!”.

What has been one of your favorite experiences at the Fine Arts Center?
We loved Continuance: Charles and Collin Parson. Baby Everett loved the light and color and Angela took the community yoga classes offered in the gallery in the evenings. It was so special to get to interact with the pieces that way!

What is your favorite work of art at the FAC?
Everett is a fan of Andy Tirado’s hand sculptures. Angela’s favorite is Glacial Rain by Julia Fernandez-Pol, while David likes Young Lady in White (Portrait of Miss Elsie Palmer) by John Singer Sargent.

What else do you like to do for fun in Colorado Springs?
We enjoy hiking, attending Downtown Colorado Springs’ awesome events like First Fridays and live concerts, hosting friends for good food and conversation, and exploring our region’s diverse arts and cultural scene!
