Gennie and Michael Mayberry

Meet Our November Members of the Month: Gennie and Michael Mayberry

Why did you become a member of the Fine Arts Center?
We feel supporting the arts is important and joined shortly after we moved here to meet people with similar interests.

When did your interest in the arts begin?
As young adults we shared an interest in arts. Gennie was a board member of the Fairbanks Arts Association.

What has been one of your favorite plays, classes or exhibits at the Fine Arts Center?
Too many!! Also the staff is top on my favorites. Museum curators, Joy Armstrong and Blake Milteer, taught an arts course several years ago that was fun. Mike liked the Georgia O’Keefe exhibition because of the variety of people he toured (as a docent).

What is your favorite work of art at the FAC?
Gennie’s is Allan Houser’s Sacred Rain Arrow plus A Million Aspen Leaves by Joseph Sharp that toured with the Eloquent Objects exhibition. Mike likes the Navajo rugs and the Chihuly chandeliers.

What else do you like to do for fun in Colorado Springs?
We enjoy the Philharmonic, Gennie attends book clubs and Mike plays golf.
