This Drag Queen is making history

September 16, 2023

This goddess is making history. She’s the first drag queen to win both RuPaul’s Drag Race and Miss Continental. Sasha’s signature, sensual modern drag is sure to entertain.

Sasha is a proud trans-Hawaiian woman and a staple in the American drag industry. She’s been hailed “a legend” by castmates of RuPaul’s Drag Race past and present and won the prestigious title of Miss Continental 2012. She has been an influential figure of personal empowerment for the drag and trans community for over a decade. Sasha is also the reigning winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15, marking a monumental moment in Drag Race history as the first Native Hawaiian and trans contestant to be crowned.

The evening will be hosted by local drag artist and theatre favorite Belzin Whistlez (Sammy Gleason), and will also feature two regional drag artists, Mario Wanna and Leia Trillz-Latrice.

 Host: Belzin Whistlez

Belzin Whistlez is over the moon to be back for this second jaunt into drag entertainment at the Fine Arts Center. They hosted the first ever drag show on the mainstage last spring during the FAC’s run of The Legend of Georgia McBride. Most recently they were seen treading these boards (out of drag) in the FAC’s Henry Award-nominated production of  It’s A Wonderful Life – A Live Radio Play. Over the past eight years, they have made a name for themselves as an emcee and host of burlesque and drag shows all over the Front Range. With a quick wit and a bald head, they have taken their gift of gab and spun it into an effervescent and charismatic brand of raconteur-ship that has made them an audience favorite. They can also be seen weekly on Saturdays and Sundays at ICONS in Downtown Colorado Springs, hosting Drag Bingo Bunch.

Featuring: Mario Wanna

Mario Wanna (he/they) is an androgynous drag king based in Colorado Springs. Drag has helped give a therapeutic space for artistic expression and has helped heal the way they see their body. This King enjoys portraying anything from the stereotypical FBOI to conceptual interpretations, as well as shining light on social and emotional issues and even the occasional live vocals. They hold the titles of Prince of Manitou 2022, Mr. Club Q Pride, and is one of the DIVA Award winners for Freshest Faces 2023.

Featuring: Leia Trillz-Latrice

Leia Trillz-Latrice is your current local Ms. 2023 life’s a drag pride. Drag for Leia started out as a way to heal from bullying as well as self-harm, and eventually showed them that it’s okay to search for a gender spectrum that has no boundary. This Belizean princess originates from Santa Barbra, California, home of the sexiest hippies.
