In Her Bones Staged Reading

Theatre season subscribers, Fine Arts Center Members, and CC community members are invited to join us for a live staged reading and workshop for In Her Bones ahead of its world premiere at the FAC in February 2025. Get a peek into the development of this new work with the playwright Jessica Kahkoska, director Rebecca Martinez, and the cast. Be a part of an intimate viewing of a work in progress and engage in an open discussion about the last stages of the show’s development. Hors d’oeuvres and cash bar included.

About Jessica Kahkoska
Jessica Kahkoska is a local author with close ties to the FAC. She is a writer, researcher/dramaturg, and producer for theatre and TV. Theatre projects include Wild Fire (Commissioned and World Premiere by Denver Center for the Performing Arts, upcoming at ZSpace), Letters to the President (2024 Goodspeed Festival of New Musicals, Great Hall at Cooper Union), Today and Tomorrow (Northern Stage Theatre Company, upcoming World Premiere) Agent 355 (New York Stage and Film, Roundabout Theatre Company, Signature Theatre Company), The Death of Desert Rose (under commercial option, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat), In Her Bones (Denver Center for the Performing Arts, upcoming World Premiere at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center), Wild Home: An American Odyssey (Notch Theatre Company, NEA ArtWorks Grant REceipient), and Nia (World Premiere: UNC Chapel Hill). She is currently under new work commissions from Broadway Licensing, the Alley Theatre, and Northern Stage Theatre Company. She has received the National Archives Foundation’s Cokie Roberts Women’s History Fellowship, the Marion International Fellowship in the Visual and Performing Arts (2-time recipient: 2017 and 2023), and a Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellowship, among other awards.
About Rebecca Martinez
Rebecca Martinez is a multidisciplinary director and the Cohort Collaborations Director for One Nation/One Project. Recent projects: Bite Me (WP Theater / Colt Coeur), It Happened in Key West (Fulton Theatre), Sancocho (WP Theater), Living and Breathing (Two River), Los Complicados (EST Marathon), Randy’s Dandy Coaster Castle (Egg & Spoon Collective), Songs About Trains (Working Theater and Radical Evolution), Somewhere Over the Border (Syracuse Stage and Geva Theatre), Anna in the Tropics (Fine Arts Center, Henry Award for Directing). Rebecca co-adapted and directed the 2023 & 2024 touring bilingual musical production of The Comedy of Errors (The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit, Drama Desk Nomination, Outstanding Adaptation; LATA 2025 Awards for Best Adaptation and Innovative Theatrical Concept). She has developed new work with The Public Theater, Amas Musical Theater, the O’Neill, Latinx Playwrights Circle, the Sol Project, NAMT, INTAR, Working Theater, The Playwrights Realm, among others.
