Indigenous Futurities

Indigenous Futurities: Dancing Earth in CyberSpace

One of our 3×3 Projects teams is live streaming a virtual performance Thursday, June 18 at 7:30 pm MDT. Indigenous Futurities: Dancing Earth in Cyberspace is presented by a team of visionary artists who reveal cyberspace as a realm of ritual to reimagine the future. This collaboration includes contemporary Indigenous dance from the artists of Dancing Earth and music from gifted multi-instrumentalist QVLN. They explore themes of ritual, recreation, and human connection, looking to ancestral stories of creation after destruction to guide us forward.

Virtual: Zine Making

Get creative while expressing yourself in a cool and unique way. In this virtual class, learn the history of zine making from 80s punk culture to fashion and poetry. Explore basic zine building skills and create your own works to share and distribute. After class, take advantage of additional open studio time to work on your project. Ages 12-16

The Best of Both Worlds — Musical Theatre and Creating Characters.  The fundamentals of theatre will be explored in this fun and collaborative virtual class!  No day will be the same as we take a deep dive into different theatrical themes. Acting, dancing, design, playwriting and collaboration are just the tip of the iceberg for this high-energy and interactive class. Rising theatre stars take note!  This virtual class is designed for students who yearn to further develop their love and skills for the theatrical art form.  Daily theme exploration will allow these students to get a three-dimensional view of performing and creating.  Collaboration will be key to the work that we do. In this virtual class, learn how to bring your favorite photos to life using a variety of painting techniques.  Explore realism, abstraction, and mixed media techniques to illustrate your favorite moments.  Use the grid and other methods to place your image quickly on canvas.   Leave with confidence to paint successfully from reference photos. In this virtual workshop, you’ll be introduced to the basic Japanese calligraphy strokes as well as some free-style variations. Learn to practice words in Japanese letters and Kanji (Chinese characters) and be encouraged to explore ways to use the strokes of calligraphy and ink-drawing in your own unique way. This class includes live Zoom sessions and studio hours with the instructors. Ages 16-Adult
