Year of Georgia O’Keeffe
2015 has bloomed with a Georgia O’Keeffe celebration
Please join us for a year-long immersion into the legacy of Georgia O’Keeffe. The mother of American Modernism, O’Keeffe defined our contemporary image of the Southwest and became one of the most enduring artists of our time.
The FAC, which was founded in 1936, has deep roots in both sacred Southwestern and Modernist American art. We celebrate her work and her spirit by hailing 2015 as the Year of Georgia O’Keeffe, and we have built much of our multi-disciplinary programming throughout the year around her artwork and the themes her work evokes.
At the heart of the celebration will be the international traveling exhibition, Eloquent Objects: Georgia O’Keeffe and Still-Life Art in New Mexico, which runs June 27–Sept. 20, makes the FAC exhibition, its in its only showing in this region. This new, first-of-its-kind exhibition will include more than 40 magnificent paintings by O’Keeffe and her contemporaries – artists she influenced and who influenced her.
