• July 9 – Ladder to the Moon, featuring the FluteDaddy Quintet
  Original compositions, arrangements and improvisation inspired by the life and work of Georgia O’Keeffe.

• July 17-Aug 17 – Ghost in the Machine
  The Commonwheel Artist Co-op hosts this exhibition, of works by instructors at the FAC’s Bemis School of Art. All of the works are inspired by the timeless art of Georgia O’Keeffe.

• Opening July 25 – A Sense of Calm: Work Inspired by Agnes Martin
  This Cottonwood Center for the Arts exhibition will feature minimalist work inspired by Agnes Martin, who was featured in a group exhibition with O’Keeffe (Illumination: The Paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe, Agnes Pelton, Agnes Martin & Florence Pierce), and who was considered a minimalist. Martin considered herself to be an abstract expressionist. The work is set out to expose the essence, essentials or identity of a subject through eliminating all non-essential forms, features or concepts.

Don’t miss their contemporary Southwestern art exhibition, Colors of the Southwest, on display through September 27th. The exhibition features life and perspectives of the Southwest, with artists and subjects native to the southwestern lifestyle. This collection of over 90 pieces showcases the genre of such renowned artists John Nieto, Frank Howell, R. C. Gorman and more. Special offer valid through Sept 27, must show FAC membership card.

• Aug 29 – UCCS Symposium – O’Keeffe in Her Own Time and Place
  Free and open to the public, this symposium will explore the life and work of Georgia O’Keeffe from several dimensions featuring lectures by local experts in women’s and ethnic studies, art history, anthropology, and cultural geography.
